World Monitor · Legal
World Monitor for Android is published by Apphesus Teknoloji A.Ş., a company registered in Türkiye ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at [email protected].
World Monitor has no user accounts. You never give us your name, email address or password to use the app. The data we handle is the technical data described below.
Device and app information. When the app loads data, our servers receive your IP address, the app version, your device's Android version and what you request. We use this to deliver the right content and to run the app. Server logs are kept only as long as needed to operate and secure the service.
Approximate location from your IP address. On launch the app asks our server which region your IP address resolves to, so the map opens near you. This lookup is answered from the request itself and is not stored.
Precise location, only if you allow it. If you grant location permission, the app uses your device location on the device, while you use it, to show your position, centre the map and show nearby incidents. Your precise location is not sent to our servers and is never used in the background.
Usage analytics and crash reports. We use Google Firebase Analytics to record events such as screens viewed, map layers switched, the subscription screen being shown and purchases starting, together with an app-instance identifier, your device's advertising ID where available, your device model, Android version, language and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Firebase Crashlytics records crash reports and diagnostics with an installation identifier. Firebase Remote Config downloads app settings and runs A/B tests using a Firebase installation identifier. This helps us see what works and fix what does not.
Install attribution and campaign measurement. We use AppsFlyer to measure which of our advertising brings people to the app. AppsFlyer receives your device's advertising ID where available, device information (device model, Android version, language and IP address), the Google Play install referrer (which store listing, link or ad led to the install), an AppsFlyer installation identifier and your anonymous subscription identifier, together with app opens and the onboarding and subscription-screen events described above. RevenueCat reports purchase, trial and renewal events to AppsFlyer. AppsFlyer reports installs and these events to the advertising networks we buy ads from, so those networks can measure their campaigns. AppsFlyer keeps this data according to its own retention policy. AppsFlyer's privacy policy: https://www.appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy/. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time (see section 7).
Purchases. Subscriptions are sold and charged by Google Play. We never see your payment card. RevenueCat, our subscription provider, receives your purchase details (product, price, dates and the Google Play purchase token), a random app user identifier, your advertising ID, Android ID and IP address, so the app knows what you have bought, and it reports purchase, trial and renewal events to Firebase Analytics and AppsFlyer for the analytics and campaign measurement described above.
Feedback. If you rate an AI brief or send feedback from the app, we receive your message, the rating, the app and Android version, your device model, a random installation identifier created by the app and your anonymous subscription identifier. Please do not include personal information in feedback.
Reminders. Brief reminders are scheduled and shown locally on your device. We do not send push notifications and we do not store push-notification tokens.
Map. The map is drawn with Mapbox. Your device requests map tiles directly from Mapbox, which receives your IP address, device information and the tile requests, and collects usage telemetry that can include your device location while the app has location permission. You can turn Mapbox telemetry off from the (i) button on the map. Mapbox's privacy policy applies.
AI briefs. Briefs, story summaries and incident descriptions are generated on our servers from public sources using AI providers (including Anthropic, Google, Groq and OpenRouter). The requests contain regions, topics and news text, never data about you. The briefs you set up are stored on your device.
Translation. Translation of headlines and briefs uses Google ML Kit on your device. The text does not leave your device. Language packs are downloaded from Google, and ML Kit may send Google anonymous performance and diagnostic data.
Live channels and articles. Live video channels open in YouTube, and news images and articles load from their publishers. When you use them, that provider receives your IP address and its own terms and cookies apply.
World Monitor shows news about conflicts and disasters and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the related data.
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Access to the data we hold is restricted to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires if a breach affects your data.
We will publish any new version of this policy in the app and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will also announce it in the app.
